WEIGHT LOSS GLP-1

Weight Loss GLP-1 in Gahanna, Ohio

Discover the FDA-approved class of medications transforming medical weight loss: GLP-1 agonists! These injectable drugs, when used alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise, can help patients achieve an average weight loss of 15%. By regulating hormones that control hunger and satiety, these medications assist your body in producing insulin as needed (typically after meals) and decrease unnecessary glucose production by the liver. Additionally, GLP-1 agonists help curb appetite, keeping you feeling fuller for longer.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

WHAT IS IT?

Initially created to address Type 2 diabetes, GLP-1 medications revealed an unexpected benefit: substantial weight loss. This discovery spurred additional research and led to FDA approval for their use in managing obesity and overweight conditions under the names Ozempic (as Wegovy) and Mounjaro (as Zepbound). These drugs contain the active ingredients Semaglutide and Tirzepatide.

Administered primarily via injections with small needles placed in fatty tissue, these medications interact with cell receptors in the pancreas, gastrointestinal tract, and other areas. They are engineered to mimic peptide molecules naturally produced in the body. By slowing down the digestion process and the rate at which food exits the stomach, these drugs induce a sense of prolonged fullness after meals. Additionally, they affect brain regions involved in craving control, helping to manage stress-eating and reward-related eating habits, which contributes to weight loss.

HOW WILL GLP1 MEDICATION BE ADMINISTERED?

Semaglutide is administered via subcutaneous injection in the upper leg (thigh), abdominal area, or upper arm. This medication is given once a week, ensuring no more frequent administration than every seven days. It can be injected regardless of whether the stomach is full or empty. When used in conjunction with insulin, semaglutide should be injected separately, ensuring the injection sites are not adjacent to each other. Additionally, it is important to rotate the injection sites.
